My sister is a case manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central MN (up in St Cloud) and this weekend Chris and I were able to participate in one of the BBBSCM fundraisers. The event is Bowl for Kids Sake and it was FUN!
My mom, Aunt Julie, Josh and Robyn met Chris & I at Bo Diddley’s for a little pre-bowling lunch and then we headed over to Granite Bowl South to check in.
We were welcomed by BBBSCM director, Irv Cross (who, I guess is kinda a big deal to football fans) and then they set us up for cosmic bowling and we were free to play as much as we wanted for 90 minutes!
This is team “Light’s Out” (the theme was Going Green): Chris, Mom, Me, Julie (who didn’t bowl, but sponsored us) and Josh
and here’s a photo of Chris sporting the T-shirt we all got because we each raised at least $100 for the event!
During the bowling, occasionally the MC would shout out a goal like “next 2 strikes get a prize” and this is Chris accepting his “next gutter ball” prize where my sister recommended that he take his prize (a To Do List pad) and remind himself to get some bowling lessons. Haha.
Oh, and did I mention beer specials?! $7 pitchers. That would explain why Chris slept while I drove home. We’ll definitely be going back next year & hopefully we can recruit some friends to join us!

When we left the dome on Sunday afternoon, I figured that would be my last visit for the 2009 regular season. The Twins had won the right to a one game playoff, but as we waited for the post game ceremony to start the phone lines to get tickets were completely jammed and there was no getting through.
This would be the second time in the past year that I really WISHED we had cable (the first was Friday night), but that’s okay…the game would be on the radio or I could head to a local eatery that would have the game on.
Then…this morning, completely out of the blue, I got a phone call - “Can you go to the game? I’ve got 2 tickets.” YES! It took a little rearranging, but I will be there and so will Chris!!
GO TWINS!!!!
