The weekend of June 25-28 Chris and I took off for the North Shore of Lake Superior and had a super dooper fun time. We hit up a few different state parks to do some hiking but also did some relaxing too!

After some lunch on Friday and a little relaxing, we decided to visit the Split Rock Lighthouse. When we were camping earlier in June, Jayne let us know that they were having kids day at the Lighthouse on Saturday and we definitely didn’t want to be there then!

We took the self guided tour, seeing the lighthouse, the fog horn building and some of the living quarters for the keepers.

It was a quick trip, but I’m glad we went. Friday evening after dinner we took a walk down to Pebble Beach, skipping rocks along the way:

There’s a really nice view of Split Rock Lighthouse from the beach:

On Saturday night we actually got to see the light spinning, just like it would have before GPS made lighthouses unnecessary as an aid for shippers anymore!

On the way back to our campsite we found a ‘lounge chair’ made out of rocks so of course I had to try it out. Turns out, it was actually very comfortable!

The rest of the night we played some cards, had a S’more and relaxed in our new chairs by the campfire.

We forgot to pack our chairs & that meant that we upgraded to some fancy schmancy ones with serious options. Cup holder? Check. Magazine rack? Check. Cooler? Check!

And here’s a photo of our campsite…#3 cart in at Split Rock Lighthouse.
