Did you know that a group of unicorns is called a blessing? Well, that is according to one of the comedians we saw on Thursday night. Chris & I had Date Night at Acme Comedy and it was a lot of fun!

Dinner was at Sticks Restaurant. We had toasted wontons for an appetizer and then Chris had some ravioli while I enjoyed the pork chops. We weren’t sure what to expect for dinner at the comedy club but it was very tasty! I can’t remember the names of the two guys who came on stage first last night but the headliner was Christian Finneagan. I haven’t been to many comedy shows, and usually I find myself laughing at maybe half of the jokes but honestly I really, really enjoyed these guys.

Probably the best thing about this particular Date Night is that we both took Friday off of work! It is so fun to go out on a week night and know you don’t have to get up in the morning to go to work. It’s now 5:30 on Friday evening and so far today I have run some necessary errands, had lunch, done a teeny bit of work, and completed 1/2 of the scrapbooking I need to get done prior to 3/31. I have decided that I must complete my Twins 2007 book prior to the 2008 home opener which leaves me ONE MONTH! Thankfully I had already completed 2/3 of the book, but the pressure is on. Baseball season is almost here…YAY!!! Anyway, our big plans for the rest of the night are to relax at home with some food, drinks, and possibly cards. Sounds perfect.

My dad was nice enough to play chauffeur for Josh, Robyn & Adam on New Years Eve and so in return Josh & Robyn decided to take him to the Swarm game last Sunday. They invited Chris & I to go with and we decided that it sounded fun. We had been to a Swarm game last season and were a little disappointed when they announced that the league had been canceled so it was fun to get to go to another game.

Our seats were in the club level so we had a good overall view of the playing area. At the beginning of the game each team seemed to be scoring often so we thought it might end up being a really high scoring game, but the final score was 14-13 with the Swarm taking the W in overtime!

My mom had told my dad & brother that they were on their own for dinner so the 5 of us decided to go to Buster’s for some food after the game. They had picked us up before heading to the Xcel Energy Center so it made sense to go back towards home for some food. Overall the experience went well, although they were out of the one non-alcoholic beer they have so my dad wasn’t able to try a new beer. I really enjoy their Mushroom Melt sandwich and we always recommend the fries!

Chris & Andy had the idea to have a Mini theme party with mini pizzas, mini wieners, mini beers, etc. The first opportunity for a theme party since the idea came up just happened to be Super Bowl XLII. TJ & Erica have a ginormous TV so they were nice enough to host the party at their house for game watching happiness. We all headed over around 4pm and enjoyed the game and the commercials. I started out the game thinking I wanted to see the New England Patriot’s win to complete a perfect season (because Tom Brady was on a SNL rerun on Saturday night & he was hilarious) but as the game got going I realized that I really wanted the New York Giant’s to win. Chris was the only one cheering for the Patriot’s but I don’t think anyone was actually a big fan of either team so we all had fun.

We had a good variety of mini foods but we did realize that there aren’t many healthy mini foods!
Mini Beer Mini Food Mini Table Mini Nilla Wafers

You may notice mini pizzas, corn dogs, wings, brownies & cupcakes, carrots & tomatoes, pretzels & nilla wafers, and éclairs. We also had some mini tacos & taquitos later on in the afternoon. More than one person commented that even though the food was small, we were all definitely full!

One downfall was that 8oz beers don’t take as long to drink as 12oz beers (or 22oz beers for that matter) so we were getting up more often than we would have liked. Luckily there were 2 mini coolers that we set up in the living room with the pony beers. Oh, and it is recycling week so TJ & Erica will be able to get rid of their major recycling load of mini beer bottles.

PS - I think my favorite Super Bowl Ad was the Rat Trap one for Doritos, although the training Clydesdale for Budweiser was neat too. Anyone else have a favorite?
